One thing I really like in ambient music is varied song length. It is easy to fall into a pattern of making really long tracks.
At first glance that probably seems like a silly thing to appreciate, but when it comes to ambient music song length directly ties into what the song can do to your head! Beau accomplishes this well on Peculiar Ghost, my head is swimming on many levels.

AMAZING! It is so simple yet so complex at the same time. This would be perfect for background music to a game like Resident Evil. Good god its just beautiful. You should be proud, this is what ambient music is meant to be like. Wow. Just wow! As an semi-good ambient artist I truly respect your work. What program do you use?
Best ambient song iv’e ever heard. Sadly, there will be people who do not appreciate this as there is to any song… but especially this because the very begginning is just a few notes with a pad. Still, its art, its good art, and dont let anyone ever tell you your music is crap.
